It is being reported tonight by Sky Sports that Celtic are interested in signing towering Dutch centre back Xavier Mbuyamba from FC Volendam.
The 21 year old, 6ft5 defender has apparently been a standout in the Dutch top flight this season and is also being tracked by Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.
After watching January recruit Yuki Kobayashi struggle against Hearts and most recently at Ibrox against ‘Rangers’ at the weekend, manager Ange Postecoglou will no doubt be keen to get a player in who can come straight into the first team if called upon, or perhaps even to compete with CCV and Carl Starfelt.
As I wrote yesterday, a loan spell to another Scottish Premiership side in the summer may be best for Kobayashi to help him develop into the tight of defender we need at Celtic:

Mbuyamba has also spent time in the youth setup at both Chelsea and Barcelona and has been capped once by Netherlands at under 19 level so far.
