Sell On Clause Revealed As Celtic Deal For Winger Edges Closer

Celtic look set to complete the signing of exciting Honduran left-winger Luis Palma from Greek side Aris.

The 5 ft 10 23 year old is expected to jet into Glasgow to complete a medical over the next 24hrs after his club accepted Celtic’ second offer of £4.3m.

Palma reportedly spent the morning saying goodbye to his Aris teammates at training.

The player has also turned down other European clubs and a lucrative offer from Saudi which would have netted him an extra £3m over the length of his contract, but he turned that down due to his desire to join Celtic.

Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has been the man to go to for the latest news on Palma as he has been keeping a close eye on this deal.

And just minutes ago, he has confirmed that there will be a sell-on clause inserted into Palma’s Celtic contract.

He tweeted:

Aris will have a 20% sell on clause at the deal with Celtic for Luis Palma

A 20% sell-on is quite a large amount, considering most transfers are typically 10-15% at most.

Celtic have agreed to a higher sell on clause before though, allowing PSG to recoup 30% back on Odsonne Edouard and also agreeing a 30% sell on clause with Benfica for Jota, but of course they were both from much bigger clubs who are generally harder to negotiate with.

Palma is only 23, so the goal will be most likely to sell him on for big profit in a couple of years time if all goes well, as that is the transfer model of our club.
