The first time volley from Kyogo Furuhashi blasted past the helpless Jack Butland in goals was enough to give Celtic all three points against ‘Rangers’ at Ibrox this afternoon.
It was a truly world class finish and even the pundits of Clyde Superscoreboard this afternoon seemed to be in disbelief as the ball hit the back of the net as 50K fans inside Ibrox fell silent.
Gordon Dalziel: What a finish!
Mark Wilson: It’s a sensational finish from Kyogo. It’s a sensational finish from Kyogo if this stands.
Gordon Duncan: It’s a wonderful goal from Kyogo! It sits up and he flashed a right footed volley low beyond Jack Butland into the corner, goalkeeper no chance!
Dalziel: See when I see Kyogo, I’m thinking, “what you doing? Take a touch. Take a touch!” and all of a sudden he absolutely buries that! What a top class finish that is.
Wilson: That’s a sign of a top striker that. Daz is right, why would you think about hitting that first time!?
Duncan: He could have easily took it down and dribbled it towards goal
Wilson: He’s over 20 yards out and he just volleys it in with nobody near him. What a finish!
That was the difference in the teams today. While Michael Beale has spent and absolute fortune on several strikers this summer who at the moment all appear to be DUDS, Celtic have tied down Kyogo Furuhashi on a long term deal and yet again he has proven to be the difference in this fixture.
He was certainly not at his best today, but yet he was still the difference maker. That’s when you know you have a top class striker on your hands.
