What Happens In The Likely Scenario This Takeover Happens And Rangers Are Still Miles Behind Celtic?

The talk over this proposed Rangers takeover is back in the SMSM again today with Sky Sports News reporting that a deal has been “agreed in principle with US investors Andrew Cavenagh and San Francisco 49ers Paraag Marathe”.

The report states that “a period of due diligence is now taking place, while legal paperwork is drafted up.”

This could certainly be a very interesting stage in the process, and as the Ibrox fans are creating dream teams in their heads for next season with the multi million pound investment heading their way, or so they think, this whole process really could take a turn for the worst as far as they are concerned.

Anyone who uses Twitter, feel free to type in to Grok 3 what stage investment deal normally fall apart in, because you will find out that the most common stage these deals fall apart in is indeed the due diligence stage.

This is where the parties interested in buying get to look at all the accounts in great detail, keeping an eye out for any hidden debts or red flags.

I suspect they will both be very shocked indeed once they take a look through the books at Ibrox!

I would love to see this fall through because it will absolutely destroy that mob and leave them with no hope whatsoever for next season.

Of course, there is a chance this deal still goes through and deep down I think it probably will still go through and according to Ibrox fans that will mean a great deal of suffering for me and every other Celtic supporters as the 90s return and Rangers once again sweep up every trophy going with their financial muscle.

This is their belief and I do find it hilarious because it is based on absolutely nothing but fantasy and wishful thinking.

Let’s look at the evidence shall we? The 49ers took control of Leeds in July 2023 and in that season of transfer windows, according to Transfermarkt, they took in 33.58m euros worth of player sales and brought in 35.90m euros worth of players.

As you can see in their first full season in charge, they essentially only spent what they brought in in terms of transfers, which is very interesting.

What about the 2nd season though? Surely they ramped up their spending in the race to secure EPL riches? Well, once again, as evidenced by Transfermarkt, they took in a massive 162.90m euros of player transfers, but even more interestingly, and what should be very concerning for the Ibrox fans who are currently living with their heads in the clouds, they only spent 32.42m euros on players, even less than their first season and that’s with them banking around 130m euros EXTRA.

Yet, we are supposed to be terrified that this mob are going to come in and blow us out of the water financially? Again, based on what exactly? Not based on any evidence because as I’ve just highlighted, that shows they will likely do the exact opposite of what the Ibrox fans are expecting.

If they carry of the way they are playing until the summer, Fenerbahce as expected put them out of Europe, how much are they going to make in player sales this summer? Most likely very little. They took in 2.95m euros in the last two transfer windows combined according to Transfermarkt, but let’s be generous and bump that up and estimate they take in 10 million quid on player sales this summer alone.

Based on evidence and history, which as we know is the best indicator of the future, that means that Rangers would most likely only have 10m to spend on new players this summer when they once again need a massive rebuild.

Let’s not forget, they already need to pay 3.5m of that for injury crock Cortes in their obligation to buy, so that will leave them 6.5m to spend. Oh well, perhaps they could spend that money on Cerny to buy him permanently and be back to square one.

This is who we are supposed to be scared of? Seriously? We’ll probably buy multiple players for around 10m alone this summer as we’ll probably bring in around 30m in transfer fees.

Well, in saying that, as I now look at the figures, we actually brought on 56.18m euros in transfer fees over the last 2 windows and re-invested 43.40m euros of that on new arrivals.

The numbers don’t lie folks. But the fairies in the heads of the Ibrox supporters sure do and they are telling them that Celtic fans should be terrified of what is to come with this takeover.

They want us to ignore the evidence of how this lot operate at Leeds and believe that they are the 2nd coming of Roman Abramovich when he took over Chelsea.

What happens though in a year or even two years from now when Celtic are still top dogs in Scotland and sweeping up every trophy going as Rangers fans wonder why they are still watching a team filled with the likes of James Tavernier, Jack Butland and Cyriel Dessers?

What will they say then?

They’ll simply get/order/acquire new owners with more cash & deeper pockets🤣

Well, they dream and commit it to paper all the time, they don’t have a monopoly of BS

However, they DO have a monopoly on biased referees
