Surprising stats from Celtic v Hibs

Celtic came out 2-0 victors from the first league game of the New Year against Hibs last night.

It was an entertaining first half but the second half was a bit slower, and after a nervy start with Hibs hitting the post right at the start of the match, it ended up being a comfortable win for the hoops.

However, Hibs played some really good football at times, it was actually surprising how well they played out from the back at times and they were rapid on the counter attack.

Even more surprisingly though was the fact that they actually dominated possession against us, which you can see from the stats below.

You don’t see teams dominating possession against us very often in the league, in fact I can’t remember the last time this happened.

It looks like Hibs have made a great decision in appointing Shaun Maloney as manager. If he carries on the way he’s started, it’s only a matter of time before he moves on for a bigger challenge.
