It looks like Celtic will definitely not be signing Rosenborg striker Casper Tengstedt.
Celtic have certainly not “missed out” on the player, as you will probably see in other SMSM outlets today.
Celtic had only made enquiries on the player’s availability, as we do for a number of different players before deciding on whether to make a move for them or not.
Ronsenborg were looking for far too much money for a player for what Celtic were willing to offer, and understandably so as it looks like that figure was £8m.
That is what is being reported today that Benfica are going to pay for the player as Benfica officials fly in to complete the deal for the player who has scored 15 goals in 14 appearances this season for the Norwegian side.
As we already know, South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung is the club’s No.1 target and we still appear to be favourites at the present time after submitting a £3m bid.
Despite a reportedly larger bid from Minnesota in the MLS, Cho wants to play in Europe.
Cho will apparently decide his future by this weekend.
