Asking Price Set For Reported Celtic Target

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou seem keen to bolster his attacking options this summer heading into the Champions League group stages once again next season.

The club have been linked with a number of wingers already with the window still over 3 weeks away from opening.

The most recent link came this morning, with rumours of interest in young Manchester City talent Carlos Borges, who is out of contract at the Champions League finalists next summer: Rumour: Celtic Tracking Exciting Man City Winger – Champions 67

And we were also linked with another exciting winger, 6 time capped Colombian Diego Valoyes, who plays his football for Talleres in Argentina: “Jota Filth Levels” – Excitement As Celtic Linked With Colombian International – Champions 67

But the first winger we were linked with a week or two ago was explosive Trinidad & Tobago winger Levi Garcia, who plays for newly crowned Greek Champions AEK Athens.

But interest from Celtic if true, could be about to end, after Athens reportedly set their asking price a 15m euros for the 25 year old who has scored 18 goals for them this season and created 7 assists.

15m euros is £13.02m and that would shatter our current transfer record which was paid out to PSG for Odsonne Edouard (around £9m).

AEK going into the Champions League at the third qualifying round, and if they were to go out in the qualification rounds, that could increase their chances of needing to sell Garcia and perhaps lead to them reducing their asking price.

There is apparently interest from many different European clubs though, including Borussia Dortmund and Lille, so it certainly won’t be an easy deal for Celtic to get done, and definitely not one that is likely to be concluded quickly.

Celtic are perhaps better of trying to find other players who are just as capable, but more low key and at cheaper cost as although I do expect us to push the boat out on two or three signings this window, I would expect that to be around the £7m mark, not double that amount.
